SEO evolution of WIX

SEO Wix

Wix has an ever-expanding range of tools for better SEO. In this article I’ll share with you some tools I regularly use for SEO settings.

Custom meta tags

Wix automatically sets up meta tags to meet SEO standards so your website appears correctly in search engine and social media search results. You can also customise the meta tags on every page of your website – this is what I do.

Social media

Make sure to check how your web pages will look when somebody shares links on social media. This can be customised in the settings on your site, or in the “Social networks” tab.

SEO templates

You can set the same SEO configuration for multiple pages at once. This tool could save you tonnes of time if you want to update SEO settings for your blog posts, store products, event pages, etc.

Verification for Google, Pinterest, Bing and Yandex search engines

With the Wix Search Engine Verification Tool, you can index your website immediately – it only takes a few seconds.

URL redirect manager

If you deleted or renamed a page (URL) or moved a website to another platform with a different URL structure, you need to set up redirects. With Wix, you can set up a redirect not only for one page, but also in bulk – such a time saver!

Structured data

Structured data provides search engines with more detailed information about a website’s content (“rich” results). To add structured data code in the advanced SEO settings, you need to generate it with an external tool (such as this Schema Markup Generator) for now. (But Wix is working on an in-house tool for this.)

robots.txt file

The “robots.txt” file indicates which pages should be included in search engine results. This does not guarantee that Google will crawl the page or URL, but it improves the accuracy of search engine indexing. You can edit the file via the main SEO settings in the control panel.
