  • Instagram Feed App by Wix

Updating your website content on a regular basis can be overwhelming, and regardless of how easy it is to use the Wix platform, it’s still time consuming. But website updates are an unfortunate necessity, since users should feel that your site is alive, with fresh and relevant content. Luckily, we’ve found the easiest, fastest and most convenient way to keep your website up-to-date. And we’ll share the secret with you now! :) Simply add an Instagram feed (via the free plugin by Wix) to your home page or news page. With live updates from your Instagram account, you can ensure that your website visitors see recent announcements and all your current activity. (We hope that you’re not neglecting this social media channel! :) After you add Instagram Feed from the Wix app market, you’ll need to place it in the right spot on your website. We recommend locating it somewhere near the bottom of the home page, as it may take some time to load for users. Once it’s in a suitable place, you can connect your Instagram account and set up the layout and design. There are two types of Instagram account: business and personal. We recommend using a business one (if you aren't already) because this gives you more ways to engage with visitors via the app. With a business “Insta” profile you can show posts with a specific hashtag, or the whole Insta feed. You can also make your feed interactive by linking Insta posts directly to your site pages or any other web address. If you have a Wix Store, you can link posts to the products in your store. Connecting via a personal Instagram account will only display your posts. Linking your Instagram feed to your website opens up new opportunities as a Wix website owner. Instagram is the most popular and beloved social network in the world and its users’ demand for visual content can and should be used for your own purposes. Adding a feed to your website will also benefit your Instagram presence: It encourages you to maintain your account more actively, and the influx of users from the site will allow you to develop it further. So what are you waiting for? Use the quality content of your Instagram account to add value to your Wix website, improve visitor engagement and accelerate your business growth!

  • Wix Support

Just a few website building platforms can boast their own support team – and one of them is Wix! Regardless of their membership level or experience, any Wix website owner can get in contact with a real person from Wix Customer Care. As a Wix partner in Australia, we have priority support. This means we have a personal manager at Wix who we can contact with any questions, issues or feature requests. Needless to say, all our clients have this priority, too. :) For those who’ve created and manage their sites themselves, contacting Wix support might not be quite as easy. So we’d like to give you some advice and guidance on how to reach a Wix Customer Care specialist. First of all, Wix doesn’t have a phone number to call in Australia; you can only request a callback or have a chat online with a Customer Care expert. But before you do that, we recommend trying to figure things out yourself – rest assured that in most cases you don’t even need to contact Wix Customer Care. The easiest and fastest solution is called Googling. :) Yes, that’s right, just Google it! Here’s the trick: Write your question and add “Wix” to your search query. You’ll usually find an answer with step-by-step how-to instructions. In some cases, you may discover that the functionality you need is not yet available – which is sad, but an answer nonetheless. Wix also has an enormous support library, with resources like video tutorials and articles that cover each and every action, element and product. Make sure that any resource you find via Google is a genuine Wix article. There are tonnes of Wix-related videos and posts on the web and they may be out-of-date. Wix implements new features daily and even a post from just last year could be irrelevant now. For more advanced, specific questions, there is the Wix dev knowledgebase and Velo Forum, where experienced Wix developers and Wix employees answer some tricky questions. Don’t forget that Wix has a lot of built-in support. Left-clicking any object in the editor displays a toolbar with a “help” icon, and a Help menu is always available in the editor's own toolbar. Other areas like the Blog Manager have their own persistent help icon in the top-right corner. We always use Google ourselves, as it’s so easy to find the answer without spending too much time on the support line. But OK, if you think your question is unique, or you just want to talk to a human, here’s how you do it… :) How to request a callback from Wix support Make sure you're logged in to your Wix account on a computer. Go to the contact page and choose the category related to your issue or question. Choosing the right one will save time by directing you to a specialised Customer Care Expert. If you can’t find a relevant topic, choose “Other”. Next you choose your preferred method of contact and wait for a call. We really don’t know how long it might take, as we’ve never had to deal with this. But we can assume it might take some time, considering that the number of Wix users in Australia alone is more than 5 million! (By the way, you can request Wix support in any language.) The Wix support live chat is also available in English and several other languages. You’ll see this option as one of the preferred contact methods on the contact page. We know Wix really cares about their users. Once your ticket is submitted, you’ll receive an email with the ticket number so you can follow its progress. When your issue is resolved and your questions are answered, you’ll be offered the chance to fill in a quality control survey and leave your comments or suggestions on how to improve the Customer Care service. Local Wix Expert Contacting local Wix designers is also a great way to get some support. Years of working with the platform has made us true experts. We know Wix inside-and-out and are happy to help you with your website design needs. Sure, it’s not free, but it will be absolutely worth it! :)

  • Creating a User-Friendly Online Form

Helpful tips on how to create a useful form that will work! Be clear For each piece of information you’re asking from users, try to ensure that it can only be interpreted as intended. Include examples or prompts where appropriate. Give clear requirements, especially if you ask them to upload a file (the size/format should be clearly specified). For multi-stage forms, always include a “completion bar” so that the user can see how many items are left. Remember to set up error/success messages and make them clear, too. If a user sees an error, it should tell them exactly what they need to do to fix the data they entered. Good news: Wix forms have all these messages set up by default! But it;s a good idea to check if they’re appropriate for your needs. You can update all your prompts and error/success notifications to keep the tone on-brand within your form messaging. Simplify Long forms are overwhelming, even just to look at. Users don’t like dealing with lots of fields. Include only the questions you really need to know answers to. Ask yourself how critical it is to have this information the moment the form is submitted. Provide choices In some cases it’s better to offer choices instead of requiring users to enter information themselves via a text field. It’s also easier to fill out a form on a mobile device when you provide clickable options from which to choose. For example, if you’re asking for someone’s availability, instead of providing a text field that requires them to write days and times manually, simply provide checkboxes for the days. The easier your form is to complete, the less likely are users to abandon it. Give some breathing room Where is the best place for a form on a website? In most cases, putting a form in an automated pop-up (“lightbox”) is a bad idea. A long form should be placed on its own dedicated page, while a simple form for lead generation can be integrated into the home page or site footer: No need to require an extra click if you just want to capture an email address. (We often create “Master” sections specifically for a form. That way we can display it on any page we need.) Observe Whenever you fill out a form, take note of what you personally dislike about it. Then use these notes to improve your own forms. Through reviewing and revising, you will come up with your “ideal” form. And by making it easy for customers to connect with you, you’ll make them confident in your brand’s reliability.

  • Wix Form Builder

With its advanced contact form builder, you can use Wix to easily create and publish online forms for all your needs, like lead generation, orders or surveys of any complexity. Wix Forms is part of a product called Wix Ascend, which is free to use. You won’t pay for building a simple form but if you need more complex solutions (online payments, online signatures, file upload, etc.) or if you have more than 3 forms on your website, you will need to purchase a premium plan for Wix Ascend. (This is on top of any existing Wix premium plan, as Ascend is a separate product.) Choose from a variety of form templates and then personalise the look, structure and content of your form: The customisation options are endless. You can add the following types of fields: text (short or paragraph) numeric values URL (web address) date picker & time checkboxes & drop-downs reCaptcha file upload. In addition to design customisation, each field has its own internal settings, such as whether it is compulsory, how the submitted information should be synchronised with your database (CRM), file upload requirements, and so on. Form automations and data management The best part of Wix Forms is its data management capabilities. In a few clicks, you can set up automatic emails, messages, notifications and more. Once a form is submitted, the user will receive the message that you choose, when you choose (immediately or at a set time). All your form submissions are automatically added to your Wix CRM, a table where your data can be filtered, sorted, and exported for use with external platforms. Data from each form is stored in its own table. You can also specify a synchronisation path for each form field, so that the element is automatically added to a customer record. For example, if you created a form with a “position” field, you could connect it with CRM and all customer records would have a "position" column where the form field data is saved.

Since appearing about 20 years ago, video-blogging (a form of web television) has steadily gained in popularity. As we’ve all seen, it has flourished in recent years, turning from a fun hobby for many into profitable business. The approach to creating and presenting video content is becoming more and more professional. There are already schools that help novice vloggers to quickly orient and find their niche. Here’s why: Traffic from search engines People are looking for information not only on YouTube. They turn to search engines for specific queries, and your content, including video, must appear in the search results. • Brand Concept and Site Architecture

A brand concept is a system of values and characteristics that position a brand in the market in the most effective way. The goal is to create and convey the (marketing) idea of the product to the consumer. A clearly-worded brand concept serves as the basis for building creative, visual and verbal concepts – the ones we work with while developing a website. We mention this because we often find that many people who ask for a site are not clear on their audience or positioning; so they order a site where "everything for all" is sold. For every business owner, whether at the beginning of their journey, reviewing their performance, or looking in new directions – this is where they should begin their website development project. Knowing "who we are and what we do" is a good start, but it’s definitely not enough to create a site which would work towards a common vision. If you want to find your customers, position yourself in the market, and continually develop, the range of issues you need to think about is much broader. It’s very rare that a client comes with a clear concept, described in a branding guide. More often we have to work with quite vague ideas about their positioning, values and niche – the main areas in a brand concept. Niche This is the area in which you specialise. The most important and simple rule is that the smaller your niche, the greater the chance of success. In an era of increasing specialisation and competence, not only is it important to define your market correctly, but also to find the narrowest niche which is not yet occupied (ideally) or is underutilised by competitors. We are continually surprised by how afraid most businesses are to narrow down their audience and abandon generalisation. But focusing on a smaller niche is the best thing you can do for your brand. Positioning Positioning helps you to show the main features and qualities of your product, talk about the problems it solves and reflect who it is intended for. It’s all about differentiation, identity and strengthening of position against a competitive background – which you can rely on to create the right brand associations. Here we often encounter “good quality” and “low prices”, which really has nothing to do with positioning. Our job is to highlight more remarkable qualities and features. Values These are the intangible benefits of the product that you broadcast through marketing – the feelings and emotions that someone experiences from it. This requires a good understanding of your target audience and its core values. The words used on a website convey your values, so we pay special attention to them if you entrust us with content writing. All these points form a brand concept – but note that there are more, these are just the basic ones. We document these in a brand book (branding guidelines), which is essential when working with contractors to maintain a unified style (and not just visually). In our experience, the vast majority of our clients come to us without this concept, or a clear understanding of their target audience; sometimes even of the product itself. But you won’t be able to build the right website without this knowledge, or manage further growth. So whether someone wants it or not :), when developing a corporate identity and then a website, we begin work with these questions. We analyse the answers and do our best to figure out the concept, which we later translate into imagery and text. We process disparate information into a clear value proposition, select relevant visuals (not just pretty pictures) and write text in an appropriate tone. This is a defining part of a project's success, despite taking place behind the scenes and being underestimated by many. In a global market of abundance and diversity, the only way to stand out from the competition is to create a coherent brand concept. This is not just about a logo and corporate identity, but a system of values, image and stylistic characteristics, products, philosophy and company mission. The target audience immediately sees and falls in love with such brands... In marketing, it’s called customer loyalty – and they never think to ask "Why is it so expensive?" ;) If you’re going to develop or are working with a website on Wix, you should subscribe to our Instagram page We regularly share tips on developing and running effective websites, as well as reviews of new products and platform features. • What’s New in the Wix App?

The mission of Wix and the Wix mobile application in particular, is to provide end-to-end solutions for creating, managing and developing user businesses. Wix developers are constantly working on extending the platform’s technical capabilities, which is why the Wix app has evolved rapidly, along with other areas. A significant leap forward happened about four years ago, when chat, online shop and order management features were added to the Wix mobile application. Since then, the app has been constantly updated with new tools so that today, it’s a fully-featured, pocket, mobile and very convenient version of Wix in your phone! What’s coming up? The next step in improving the user experience of the app’s clients is the planned division of Wix into two areas, one of which will more widely cover the needs of site owners and the other, those of visitors to these sites. So now we have the Wix Owner app (a mobile platform for site owners) and Spaces by Wix (an app for members – Wix websites’ end users). Wix Owner With the Wix Owner application, the owner gets their own website and mobile space to which they can invite members (who will receive a link to download the Spaces by Wix application). Wix Owner is where the Space area’s appearance can be customised and the site edited. It allows site owners to interact with their users through chat, blogging, forums, organising marathons and creating member interest groups. And of course, they can also manage their business from their phone (everything from membership plans, bookings and events, to managing restaurants and shops on the go)! Spaces by Wix Spaces by Wix is the custom application for Wix website visitors that allows them to easily interact with businesses and other visitors. They can place orders, register for upcoming events, buy products, join discussions, read blog posts and more, all from their phone! Members' activity is saved in their account, allowing them to view their upcoming classes, meetings or events, manage their plans, and save card details for one-click shopping. Super convenient for both owners and users! Of course, both of the apps have had design and usability updates, with a fresh and modern look and feel. Can’t wait to download them! If you’re going to develop or are working with a website on Wix, you should subscribe to our Instagram page: We regularly share tips on developing and running effective websites, as well as reviews of new products and platform features. • User Section on Wix Member’s Area

A few years ago, we were celebrating a welcome opportunity to create personal accounts for Wix online store clients. We even recorded a video tutorial on how to create and customise them. At that time, not every online store required users to register for purchases, but now the ability to create personal profiles is encouraged on all kinds of sites. This is exactly why Wix has continued to expand the user section functionality for sites developed on the platform. The user section allows your client to have an account for not only their online shop/s but also other business solutions (e.g. Wix Bookings, Events, Restaurants, Video, tariff plans) as well as social applications (Wix Forum, Blog, Groups, etc.). The member's area can be used to manage the level of access to site content. You can create sections and set special prices just for registered users. In addition to the required and familiar features of the private account that are built into the product, you can "assemble" a fully-customised user section (including interface) with the aid of code (Velo by Wix). The private account customisation functionality is available in the “CRM Tools” section. It allows you to configure the user’s profiles with custom fields, as well as decide which kind of information to collect and where it should be displayed. Website visitors also have the ability to control their data privacy settings. A vivid example for our practice was the creation of a user section for the American psychological support portal for young athletes, Athlete Minds Matter. After buying a subscription and registering on the website, athletes can keep a journal, communicate on the forum, create their own collections of useful resources, write a blog and always have tools and contacts at hand for emergency assistance in difficult situations. And if certain “stop words” that can serve as warning signs are published in their diary, the administrator will be notified and able to take action. We have always said that with Wix everything (or almost everything!) is possible. :) And the evolution of the user section functionality over the last couple of years proves it again. • Behind the Work

What’s a Web Designer Really Thinking about? When engaging a web designer, most clients focus only on the visual component of the future site. While we don’t want to detract from the importance of aesthetics – we create websites that are often highlighted in specialised design resources and nominated for professional awards – there are more pressing issues which must be focused on when getting to work on a website. In this article we tell you about some vital aspects of web design which are often forgotten (or remembered at the last moment) not only by customers, but also by the designers themselves. Usability Ensuring that visitors have a pleasant experience using a website is probably the very first thing to think about when building it. Elements such as buttons and navigation should be easy to understand and adhere to accepted web conventions. We always consider our design decisions from the user's point of view. Beautiful, sure - but first and foremost, user-friendly! SEO For many it’s a revelation that website design has a direct bearing on a site’s future position. SEO is not a magic bullet for a completed website, it’s an integral part of its development! Work on SEO should be started way before site building, with the skeleton and navigation structure based on analysis of search queries. It’s important to note that SEO may not be relevant in all cases. This includes image-based projects and landing pages, which are not aimed at organic search. Site administration Remember that you’ll have to maintain your website after it’s finished and handed over. Site updates must be as easy and quick to do as possible, otherwise you won’t be bothered or will be very dependent on the designer/developer. We always take this into account and as much as possible offer solutions that you will enjoy working with. This is exactly what makes Wix so great and why we’ve chosen it – the convenience and speed of updating content. Cost and development time Complex solutions definitely affect both the budget and timeframe of a site’s development. We are all for a green approach and rather than reinvent the wheel, we will choose a path that saves significant time and money by using simpler, ready-made tools. Creating a site for your clients, not you It might sound harsh, but we don't really build websites for our clients, we build them for our clients’ clients. This is a necessary distinction. People often have their own notions, evaluating a site based on their personal preferences and logic, forgetting that the end user will be their target audience, not themselves. This is why it’s important to define the demographics and needs of your customers and design a strategy based on them. Grid lines (design responsiveness) The standard Wix editor cannot boast a 100% adaptive design (this is when a layout adapts to different screen sizes). We squeeze the most responsive design possible out of the editor by using the right elements (some of which are adaptive). And we always stick with the “safe” content display area, so that the user can see all the content regardless of their device’s screen size. Responsive web design is possible using a more professional version of Editor X – this increases the cost of both production and annual plans. Mobile version Only those totally out-of-the-loop don’t know about the importance of mobile versions. The whole site design needs to be adaptable for use on mobile devices. In the standard Wix editor, the mobile version is adapted from the standard design, not created separately. So while developing websites, we always keep in mind how the content will look in a vertical layout and how the design elements will work. Wix is taking things a step further and promises to allow separate editing of the mobile version in the near future. You will be able to add or remove elements from the mobile design, independently of the main version. And this is great news! This is what is really behind the work of a professional site creator on Wix and what separates efficient and impressive sites from those that are just pretty pictures from templates or thrown together hastily. Before you start work on your website (entrust it to the contractor), make sure that they thoroughly understand all these points. • Websites for Mobile Apps

The website for a mobile application is a vital element in its promotion. Search traffic from a website can account for a significant proportion of total app downloads. If you make good use of a "call to action" and update content consistently, your website can become a mini “market” for your app. You can also use it to link to web technical support for your users. An app website must be produced while the app is being developed, not afterwards. The release of the beta version of your product is a unique opportunity to start building a loyal user base before its official release. Open-source testing can also help improve the app. And if you’re going to crowdfund your digital startup, a good website can be very handy! :) We have developed numerous websites for mobile apps, some of which have been around for several years and highlighted in professional design communities. For this reason, we’d like to share our experience and emphasise several key points that you should keep in mind when creating a website for a mobile application. Home page visuals It’s usually the case that on the site’s home page an image of the app itself is displayed. This is typically in the form of a picture of a device with the app on the screen. But stay away from using realistic mockups of smartphones. Remember that iPhone versions change every year and Android models can look very different. All you need to do is display screenshots in a shape reminiscent of a smartphone. If you’re going to use images of real people, it’s vital to ensure that they are representative of the application’s target audience. Catchy headlines (value proposition) Which problem does your app solve? What value will it bring to users? How will it make their life more interesting? Try to explain application functionality in the simplest and clearest way. Explicit call-to-action What is the next step after people have seen and evaluated the site? If you want them to download the app, make this call to action simple and obvious. Place download buttons at various locations on the site or pin them so that they are always available while scrolling. Note: The appearance of buttons to download via Google Play or the iPhone App Store is regulated. You mustn’t change their colour, shape or fonts. Home page of the CASHWO Mobile App Website (by WIX PRO) Video tutorial and screenshots One more requirement for a fully-featured app website is a set of high-quality screenshots. If there’s a desktop version, you should also include a set for that. This helps users to understand what your app is all about and minimises the probability that they’ll uninstall it after the first use. If the app has complex functionality, make sure the screenshots show all the steps involved. Creating a video about your application is the best way to demonstrate it. Legal issues Study the policies and agreements of mobile stores in your field Publish a privacy policy and user agreement Provide transparency around your collection of personal data Include check-boxes to enforce acceptance of all terms and conditions Reviews and achievements Reviews and recommendations drive sales! If you already have some real reviews from users, post them on your website. Has your app ever been ranked highly in sector-specific competitions? Don’t forget to mention this on your website. FAQs FAQs improve interaction with users at different stages in their use cycle. Whether they are a potential client, who isn’t sure if they should pay for the app, or an existing user experiencing a problem: FAQs on the app website will help them resolve these issues. Feedback Enabling users to give you feedback, whether it’s good or bad, is vital. It’s preferable to have feedback on app bugs or flaws get to you via your website, rather than through reviews on the app markets, where they can be seen by potential customers. Make your contact details and any technical support mechanism easily available to those who need it. Up-to-date content Regular app updates must be covered on the website, so that users can see the app is constantly improving and being worked on. The Wix Blog feature is the most convenient way to inform users about updates and publish other news about the app. Social media Link your social media accounts to your website for easy access and to keep in close contact with your users. This is a great way to establish a community for your brand or app. The earlier you do this the better, as it's still one of the most effective methods of promotion. Even if you’ve done tonnes of prep while developing and promoting your app, you still can’t ignore the need to create a website. It’s key to establishing communication with your users and publicising everything connected with your product If you’re going to develop or are working with a website on Wix, you should subscribe to our Instagram page We regularly share tips on developing and running effective websites, as well as reviews of new products and platform features.
